Redefining freedom

Tomorrow I leave for Spain and I can’t wait! The temperature is a blazing 98 degrees, which will be a nice change to the mild Midwest summer we’ve had so far. The window A/C unit in our Madrid apartment will be working overtime. Interestingly, I am leaving exactly four months to the day  that I was laid off. Four months ago, I had no idea that I’d be here, but I now know this is exactly where I need to be. I feel very different than I did four months ago when my time was at the mercy of my employer. I now have freedom.

“Freedom is not the absence of commitment, but the ability to choose.”

Here’s the (close to) final itinerary:

  • Madrid (3 weeks)
  • Southern Spain: Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba (1 week)
  • Tangier, Morocco (2 days)
  • Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain (1 week)
  • Prague, Czech Republic (4 days)
